CLEXANE (ENOXAPARIN)

DOSING & ADMINISTRATION

Clexane® is an anticoagulant of the low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) class, derived from natural porcine heparin, to treat thrombosis1.

DEVICES

Clexane is available in two different devices as seen below. The needle guard systems between these syringes differ. It is important that you know what syringe you are going to use and the correct technique before injecting your patient with Clexane. There are also several different doses of Clexane, so the syringe may look slightly different from the ones shown here.

ERIS

ERIS Syringe

Automatic release of the safety mechanism when the plunger is fully depressed.

Needle completely covered by the protection cap immediately after the injection.

PREVENTIS

Preventis Syringe 40mg

Release of the safety mechanism when the plunger is depressed after the injection.

An audiable “click” confirms the activation of the safety mechanism.

CLEAR IDENTIFICATION OF DIFFERENT DOSES

Clexane syringes and outer packs are available in a range of different colours, allowing easy identification of different doses.

This booklet gives some instructions about injecting Clexane at home. It is intended for patients to keep as a handy reminder.

You will find the instructions of how to use Clexane and more information in the materials below. There are two different types of Clexane prefilled syringes. Look at the images above and check if your patient has received the Eris or the Preventis device. The instructions for injecting Clexane are different between them.
